Funky melamine tableware for 2014Comments Off on Funky melamine tableware for 2014
I popped into John Lewis this morning for some oh-so-typical JLo purchases, sheets and pillowcases. Barely had I crossed the store threshold when I was pulled in two directions at once. On the right, an array of so very tempting Easter Eggs were pulling me towards them. On the left…a rather fetching display of this season’s new ‘picnicware’ as John Lewis call it…melamine and acrylic tableware to you and me…all jolly lovely for van camping, let alone picnics…
So here’s my pick of the best bits I spied on the shelves today…
John Lewis’s new ‘House’ range for 2014 is fresh and funky…bold but simple patterns in cool, sophisticated colours. This green circles design caught my eye…it’s available in plates, bowls and tumblers.
Prefer your tableware plain, not patterned? No problem, it can still be fresh and funky – the plain designs above come in sunshine yellow and grass green.
Anorak are a design label to watch out for…their ‘kissing animals’ range is available in all sorts of things, not just tableware. This rabbits design is really sweet and is a world away from a lot of more traditional melamine offerings.
Kitchen storage space a bit tight in the van? Here’s a clever idea – an elegant jug that holds 5 rather lovely acrylic tumblers inside it. Sangria outside the van on a hot Spanish afternoon…don’t mind if I do!
John Lewis have a whole heap more melamine and acrylic tableware to tempt you this season, and I might do a follow-up post to showcase some more. Just goes to show, we don’t have to put up with the fuddy-duddy designs the camping brands try to foist on us if we don’t want to!
