Campsite Review – Cardigan Camping & Caravan Site

Comments Off on Campsite Review – Cardigan Camping & Caravan Site

Cardigan Camping & Caravan site is located just off the Fishguard Road about a mile outside Cardigan.  From the main road you swing onto a narrowish farm road which takes you to the campsite, easily accessible to larger caravans, motorhomes and RVs.  We were planning to stay just one night on our way to Aberystwyth but it was so nice we stayed for four.

The site is at the top of the hill and has fantastic views across to Cardigan and the surrounding countryside.  All the pitches are level and there’s a mixture of hardstanding and grass to choose from.  There are also some fully serviced pitches if you’ve got an RV or just like having water and grey waste disposal close by.

Reception is in a large wooden hut which is also home to a very well stocked information centre with all the usual tourist brochures and local attractions information and Pam and Gareth Stephens, the owners, have also put together information on local walks and other stuff to do around and about which is really useful.

The shower block houses separate men’s and women’s toilets, showers and wash basins which are also suitable for use by people with disabilities.  The showers are clean and modern with lovely hot water, and they’re free.

There is a room for washing up which also houses a washing machine and tumble dryer (£2) and refrigerator and small freezer  and microwave oven which are all really useful especially for people tent camping.

There is a really good rubbish and recycling system.  So many sites, and especially the club sites, do waste recycling so poorly that I always thinks it’s worth a mention when it’s done well.

There is a drive over grey waste point and an Elsan chemical toilet disposal point.

Cardigan Caravan & Camping Site has FREE wifi, and it’s fantastic.  The signal is great, it’s on all the time and it’s really fast.  This is one of it’s great selling points for us and one the reasons we decided to stay a bit longer.

There are wooden picnic tables around the site and Gareth will pick them up on his tractor and deliver one to your door if you’d like to make use of one.  Again, this is a great idea especially for tent campers.

The site has a really friendly vibe, everyone seems to get along well and it’s dog and child friendly.  It makes a great base to explore this part of Wales.  It’s also next to the Cardigan Agricultural Show Ground so if you’re planning a visit next year, why not book to coincide with the show.  You’ve missed this year’s show, it was yesterday.  It was gloriously sunny and a great day out.
